SUPPORT FOR BABY OSCAR
Rikmawati, holding a recognizance paper and without access to International Social Service (ISS) support, was referred to PathFinders at 9 months pregnant by Queen Mary Hospital.

In October 2023, Rikmawati gave birth to her son, Oscar. PathFinders played a critical role in helping her navigate the challenges of early motherhood. We provided essential supplies, facilitated access to family planning resources, and supported her with registering Oscar at a Maternal and Child Health Centre (MCHC).
PathFinders also assisted Rikmawati in applying for Oscar’s birth certificate. We ensured that this document was signed by Oscar’s father, a Hong Kong Permanent Resident (HKPR), which allowed Oscar to obtain this status as well.
Oscar’s father provides some financial support, but it is not sufficient to secure a stable future for the family. While assisting Rikmawati in applying for Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA), we are also working with her to create a plan for returning to Indonesia, where she hopes to build a more secure life for herself and Oscar.
Throughout her journey, Rikmawati has shown resilience and determination, driven by her deep love for her son and a strong commitment to ensuring his well-being.
