SUPPORT FOR BABY AGNES
We met Amna in 2021 after she fled her employer’s home pregnant following a traumatic experience of sexual violence. Pressured to abort, Amna left, fearing for her safety and turned to PathFinders for help.

In November, she gave birth to baby Agnes, who was issued a birth certificate without a father’s name. Unemployed and without income, Amna relied on PathFinders for shelter, food, and essentials. Her immigration status required monthly visa renewals, and due to a hearing impairment and a language barrier, she was always accompanied by her caseworker for critical visits to immigration, legal, and medical appointments.
Determined to seek justice, Amna pursued legal action against her former employer with support from PathFinders and partner NGOs. Initially, her family in Indonesia rejected her return, but with the help of a PathFinders Ambassador and mental health support, communication with her family was reestablished, and in late 2023, Amna and Agnes returned home.
Today, Agnes is thriving, welcomed by Amna’s family, while Amna’s case continues. We hope she finds justice and that Agnes grows in a safe, nurturing environment.
