SUPPORT FOR BABY FARASHA
We first met Reuben when she was 4 months pregnant, having recently surrendered to the Immigration Department. Although she held a recognizance paper, she did not have access to International Social Service (ISS).

With the support of Matilda Hospital and Central Health, our healthcare team arranged for Reuben to undergo an ultrasound and blood tests. These revealed that her baby was smaller than expected and required follow-up scans to monitor her growth.
Farasha was born prematurely at 32 weeks and needed to stay in the hospital for one week after birth. Without approved access to public healthcare, Reuben’s caseworker worked tirelessly to assist with the administrative processes, securing a medical fee waiver after she and her baby were discharged.
PathFinders continued to provide critical support, including shelter, documentation, and essential supplies. Our healthcare team closely monitored Farasha’s weight, ensured her immunisations were up to date, and supported eczema management. Reuben also received guidance on family planning to better prepare for the future.
After attending our Home Country Return education sessions, Reuben made the decision to return to the Philippines. PathFinders ensured that all necessary travel documents for Farasha were in place, enabling their smooth journey home.
