18 years ago, I decided to work in Hong Kong for my two kids’ future. I hoped I could send them to good schools and we could build our own house. But unfortunately, we lost my son after I started building our dreams.
I’ve been working with my first employer – and hopefully my last – for 18 years. At first, I took care of a boy. After he moved to Canada for his undergraduate studies, I have been caring for his grandparents.
We created We Talk and We Listen two years ago, aiming to share our knowledge through our perspectives and experiences – both personal and as ambassadors, leaders from different organisations we are a part of. This social media platform allows us to bridge communication by sharing information, programs and events; as well as address our fellow domestic workers’ concerns.
In the 4 years that I have been a PathFinders’ Ambassador, I have gained ideas on how we could start our own projects and programs by collaborating with different organisations – guided by Erica from PathFinders. This way, we can widen our reach and impact within the community.
