If I were a book, this is my title:
A Million & One Dreams
My Adventures with Arianne
My story in a nutshell:
We are the driver of our lives. We are on a journey of different roads that will lead us to the success of our one million and one dreams or to failures. The road I have taken with my dog Arianne was full of colour, struggles and pain – and she was my faithful companion who never left my side.
Things I want people to know about me:
My failures are not dead ends, it’s a re-route to a better road. My scars are my trophies and treasures that I am proud of. “I serve and do things for a cause and not for applause.”
An Assumption I most want to correct:
Many say, “They’re JUST helpers! Being a helper isn’t a job!”. But MDWs aren’t JUST helpers! Many are degree holders, forced to be a maid in a foreign land to exchange for an opportunity to fulfil our dreams. We put aside our professional training to attain “a greener pasture” – financial security for ourselves and our family. As MDWs, we are Managers, Accountants, Chefs, Caregivers, Nurses, Teachers – by managing households and budgets, preparing meals, caring for children and the elderly. It’s decent work with a job description, but compensated the lowest and treated as slaves.
