After two months of closure due to COVID-19, the Births Registries have resumed services last Monday (Sep 7). PathFinders’ Case Managers are assisting 34 babies born to migrant mothers during this period to obtain a birth certificate. This is a strenuous and challenging task as many migrant mothers require translation help, have difficulties in gathering supporting documents such as marriage certificates, often shipping from home countries is required; and in substantiating their claim as to who the birth father of the child is, which sometimes necessitates a costly DNA test.

A birth certificate is key for every child, especially migrant babies in accessing public services, vaccinations, schooling and attaining travel documents. For $200, you can help an unregistered baby get their birth certificate. To donate, please click here.
