PathFinders Ambassador Idawati Misno (Ida) is an active community leader who has worked with different organisations and used art, learning and community engagement to empower women and migrant domestic workers.

In pursuit of her love of writing in a journal, taking notes, painting, drawing and taking photos, Idawati Misno founded Women’s Journal in 2024 – driven by a desire to use her artwork to help others and as a medium to facilitate social dialogue and community empowerment.

Most recently, in partnership with PathFinders and HER Fund, Women’s Journal launched a new project designed to empower the rising voice of Migrant Domestic Workers (MDW) in Hong Kong through art.

Recognising that MDWs are often silenced and marginalised within both their communities and society at large, “Unseen Narratives” used a creative platform to challenge patriarchal and societal oppression. To empower MDWs to reclaim their agency, narratives, and artistic expressions as acts of resistance and self-affirmation.

The project comprised of eight workshops designed to foster artistic skills and create safe spaces for MDWs to articulate their personal stories and experiences. It culminated in a public exhibition to showcase their artworks and stories, challenging viewers to confront biases and foster empathy.
