\u201cMany of them face discrimination.\u201d
\u201cThey don\u2019t always know their rights.\u201d  <\/h2>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

These were the first impressions many HKUST students shared before joining the Reach Out to Migrant Domestic Workers Volunteer Activity \u6a02\u4e5f\u300c\u50ad\u300d\u878d\u7fa9\u5de5\u6d3b\u52d5, co-organised by PathFinders \u00d7 HKUST Connect on October 5, 2025 in Central. The outreach brought together HKUST student volunteers and PathFinders Ambassadors Ace, Nida, Nelda and Edina, with the shared goal of raising awareness of maternity rights and deepening students\u2019 understanding of the migrant domestic worker (MDW) community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before the outreach began, our senior ambassador delivered a briefing covering PathFinders\u2019 mission, the role of ambassadors, the purpose of the Resource Cards, key maternity rights information, communication skills and outreach etiquette. Ambassadors also introduced themselves and shared personal experiences, followed by an ice-breaker that encouraged students to reflect on their own interactions with migrant domestic workers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students and ambassadors then formed small groups to reach out to MDWs using Resource Cards and Pangyao magazines. Throughout the conversations, ambassadors assisted students with cultural and language barriers, ensuring information was delivered clearly and respectfully.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The outreach concluded with a debrief, where students reflected on what they learned, the challenges encountered, and how the experience helped them better understand the realities faced by MDWs in Hong Kong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the end of the outreach, we were heartened to hear students share their reflections:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMore communication, help them find better jobs.\u201d
\u201cDo more outreach events, try to ask for their opinions more, as we\u2019re trying the best to grant a better life for them.\u201d<\/h2>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

We are thrilled to see these future changemakers of Hong Kong show compassion, curiosity and commitment toward building a more respectful and inclusive society for MDW mothers and children. Let\u2019s keep the momentum going!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
