Our Access to Healthcare (A2H) team recently hosted a birthday party for all our PathFinders babies who just turned 1! Five children and their mothers joined the party. We played games, ate cake, read story books and opened birthday presents which included books, toys and baby supplies. To celebrate International Women’s Day, we are delighted to announce that we have been chosen as the charity beneficiary for Liza Avelino‘s next mountain climb! Liza is a domestic helper from the Philippines who shared her story and passion for climbing in The Helper Documentary and will be climbing the highest peak in Iran, a 5,671 metres volcano called Mt. Damavand, in July 2019.
This month we have partnered with Habitat for Humanity, an NGO that helps families build and improve places they call home, on their Women Build initiative. In celebration of International Women’s Day, Habitat for Humanity volunteers donated their time and skills to provide essential renovation services to the living spaces at our shelter for migrant mothers and their babies. Natasha Mather, our regular supplies donor, recently organised a Knitting For A Cause Campaign in collaboration with Yarn In The Works, collecting knitted baby items for PathFinders’ beneficiaries. The campaign is being led in conjunction with Kids4Kids as part of their Action for a Cause initiative. Knitting workshops will be held where both advanced and beginner knitters can make baby blankets which can be donated later in the year ahead of the

PathFinders’ CEO Catherine Gurtin, together with PathFinders’ Co-director of Services Jessica Chow, attended a meeting with Chief Secretary Matthew Cheung at the end of a busy first week for our new CEO. Mr. Cheung and representatives from the Security Bureau and Labour and Welfare Departments updated PathFinders and other NGOs on the government’s Trafficking in Persons Action Plan which was launched last year. #newCEO
PathFinders’ mothers and children enjoyed several engaging and insightful workshops led by Christy Themar from Next Chapters in January. The Board of PathFinders Limited is pleased to announce that Catherine Gurtin has been named as PathFinders’ new Chief Executive Officer, effective February 11, 2019. Now in its tenth year, PathFinders has helped over 6,150 of the most vulnerable ethnic minority babies, children and women in Hong Kong by providing shelter, food, clothing, access to healthcare, education, counselling and legal assistance.
